Pillar of Cloud by day, Pillar of Fire by night.
God led the Israelites through the desert through a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. (Exodus 13:21)
A cloud to protect them from the scorching sun and heat, and a fire at night to keep them warm and provide light for their journey through the cold, dropping temperatures of the desert.
